The fact that you can study at your own time, whenever you want and the fact that you can do it at your own time is really a massive advantage. While most people only talk it up and focus on all these benefits, there are some real challenges to studying online. If you are doing a masters degree then it's probably not such a big challenge but for new students it can be a real challenge. In short, if you can afford it I would recommend that first time students find a way to attend classes and interact with other students. Even if you get your degree online, its important to slot into study groups as the physical interaction is very important in both the learning experience and the social side of it. Online degree programs are great but never disregard the importance of physical interaction.
