Associate Accounting Degree - The First Step Towards Success

Even in a declining economy, a career in accounting has always proved to be a safe option. This could be the best career for a person who is good at numbers and has an eye for detail as well. An associate degree in accounting can be the first step in pursuing a career in accounting. Not only does this degree help you in securing an entry-level job but also help you in further education.



Jobs that Require an Associate Degree in Accounting:



Billing Clerk:



To estimate and keep a record of the money that is due to a business by its customers is the job of a billing clerk. Similarly a billing clerk also has to prepare invoices for the same and send them to the customers.



Accounting Clerk:



The primary duty of an accounting clerk includes recording daily transactions which are concerned with the financial aspects of the business. Moreover they also help to keep a record of the banking transactions of the business. Also accounting clerks help in reconciling statements.



Accounting Assistant:



The main work of an accounting assistant is to help the accountant and assist him in carrying out various duties including settling bank accounts and recording invoices. Also they help in keeping a record of goods returned by customers as also reconciling daily accounts.



Bookkeeper:



Bookkeepers are employed by all firms for financial transactions including recording, analysis, reconciliation, preparing financial statements such as profit and loss, cash flow statement etc. All banking related transactions in small firms are also handled by them.



Large firms appoint bookkeepers only for specific duties such as accounts receivable, financial data entry, accounts payable etc.



Payroll:



Payroll accountants manage the entire payment section and also might be responsible for managing tax related aspects. Also they keep a record of employee time-cards.



Accounts Payable or Receivable Specialist:



The person in this job is responsible for reviewing all invoices and keeping a track of payments sent or received.



Tax Analyst:



Review of sales tax data and paying the right amount of tax to the right authorities at te right time is the job of a tax analyst.



Help in Higher Studies:



Many other educational programs can be applied for after obtaining an associate degree in accounting. The bachelor's degree which is the most preferred option can be finished in two years instead of four after obtaining an associate degree. Also one can study as well as work and earn at the same time which is an added advantage.
