CPA Exam Review Courses - Cost Comparison at a Glance

Taking a CPA Exam review course is a major factor in the CPA exam passing success, but given the hefty price tag every CPA candidate should do a thorough research on the pricing structure before making this important decision.

Given my experience in helping aspiring CPAs I would like to share with you a series of price comparison among the major CPA exam review courses for your easy reference.

With that, let's start with...

Becker CPA Review

Unless you get a deep discount from your employer, Becker CPA is the most expensive anyway you look at it. The cost of the standard review course has recently been raised again, to $3,065.

If you aren't sure of the product, or if you don't want to have the pressure to complete within the 12 month period (because the courses expire in 12 months), you may want to buy the course separately. Price per section: $910 plus enrollment fee.

Becker CPA Review also has flashcards available at $210 - $205, depending on whether you are willing to commit this purchase at the time of the enrollment. There is also a "Final Review" (i.e. cram courses) available at $190 - $240.

Lastly, if you are a student from another CPA exam review course and would like to try out Becker this time, you can get a 50% discount.

Gleim CPA Review

You may not realize, but Gleim is the cheapest CPA exam review courses around in the guided review category.

The "Gleim CPA Review system", which includes everything from books, test prep software, audio CDs, CPA Gleim Online, Test Prep for Windows Mobile, to access to a Personal Counselor, costs only $989.95.

If you don't need the complete package, the online study course (Gleim online) costs $611.92 and each section is sold separately at $169.95.

They also have audio CD, test prep software and textbook available that you can get separately.

Note: please be aware that while Gleim is the most affordable, you have to determine whether their material suits your study style: in my opinion, the test prep software is great, but the Gleim book is very intense and in a way too comprehensive, while the Gleim guided DVD is over simplified.

Yaeger CPA Review

Yaeger CPA Review is not a well-known name outside the CPA exam review community, but they get raving reviews from past users and boasts a 88% passing rate, the highest among those who publish this statistics.

For their classic Homestudy DVD, its costs $1,550, which is more expensive than Gleim but is probably the second cheapest. They also sell each section separately at $495 each.

A good thing about Yaeger CPA is that they use Wiley books and software so they can concentrate on teaching and explaining the concepts without the hassle of updating the book and software materials. Yaeger is also well-known for their customer service -- their students can just pick up the phone and ask any questions they encounter in their homestudy.

Other CPA Exam Review Course Comparison

The CPA exam is an expensive investment, so make sure you get the best out of the review course by picking the most suitable one for yourself.

Would you like to compare the cost of other programs such as Bisk, Wiley, Roger, Lambers and CPAExcel?
